Bogota

Monserrate

And then, some of the praying and singing around you gets louder with excitement. Your pilgrimage is nearly over.

There is organ music and singing coming from inside of the cathedral and you notice that some people's prayers seem to have been answered

Some fantastic views from up here and another religious statue above Bogota is visible in the distance. People here are not as freaked-out over little kids sitting on the edge of a wall as they are in the US, where fear of everything rules the land, even fear of words. Hence enforced politically correct speech.

Another fearless one coming up

I tried, but that was one fast-moving birdie. I should have done better

And then it was time to leave. I wanted to cover the market scene in town, so rather than to walk down (easy, but time consuming, even with gravity full-on), I took the funicular, as people have been since 1928, as evidenced by the old cars.

And if you still feel unfulfilled or want more adventure, there's always the ride on the Llama

After you arrive, you will still see lines of hundreds trying to use the cable car or the funicular to get to the top the easy way

Coming and going, there they are, selling, selling. True capitalists.

And so it ends. Here with the good nun shepherding a bushel of young girls back to their homes or school
